When we watch professional golfers, it’s easy to admire their fluid swings and pinpoint accuracy. But what many don’t see is the work they put in off the course, particularly when it comes to physical conditioning and injury prevention. That’s where a TPI Golf Assessment comes in.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting, understanding how your body moves can make a dramatic difference to your game.
TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) is the world’s leading educational organisation dedicated to studying how the human body functions in the golf swing.
TPI believes that golfers should match their swing style to their movement capabilities. The philosophy is simple:
There are an infinite number of ways to swing a golf club. However, there is only one most efficient way for any individual player to swing a club. This philosophy is based on what they can physically do.
Golf isn’t just about perfect swings and lower scores—there’s a science behind every powerful, consistent shot.
A TPI Golf Assessment, often referred to as a TPI Screen, digs deep into your unique body mechanics to reveal hidden strengths and limitations, allowing you to unlock a swing that’s finely tuned to your abilities.

To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. A proper screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics, biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health, and injury history.
The TPI movement screen is a simple test to quickly evaluate a player’s physical capabilities.
The results of that assessment are used to determine how technical elements of the player’s swing could be related to what their body can or cannot do. Once this screen is finished, the results are used to create a plan unique for that golfer.
Whether you’re a low-handicap player chasing that scratch goal or an amateur just looking to swing smoother, this is for you. It’s awesome for boosting your game and keeping injuries away.
TPI screening checks out how your body moves—think flexibility, strength, balance, and mobility. It spots stuff like tight hips or shaky shoulders that might be throwing off your swing or causing aches. Perfect for competitive golfers, but just as great for beginners, high-handicappers (20-30 range), or seniors wanting more consistency or less discomfort.
If you’re recovering from an injury or dealing with nagging pain like a sore back, a TPI fitness assessment will deliver a personalised plan of exercises to get you feeling right. It’s all about making your body and swing work better together, no matter your age or skill. So, if you’re ready to up your game or just play without pain, TPI screening is the way forward.
Here are 8 ways why a TPI screen could be the smartest investment you make in your golf performance.
Identify Physical Limitations Before They Affect Your Swing
A TPI screen shines a light on movement patterns that may be hindering your swing mechanics—before they turn into ingrained habits or, worse, injuries.
Personalise Your Swing Based On Your Body
TPI’s core philosophy? *There isn’t one perfect swing—only the most efficient swing for your body*. A certified coach uses your assessment results to build your unique blueprint.
Prevent Injuries and Prolong Your Playing Years
By spotting mobility issues, imbalances, or weakness early on, you’ll know exactly what to address to stay pain-free and keep playing longer.
Improve Consistency and Accuracy
Better movement equals better balance, posture, and sequencing. Translation? Fewer off-days and more reliable shots round after round.
Enhance Strength and Flexibility Where It Matters
Targeted golf-specific exercises tailored to your assessment will help unlock more power and control, without just hitting the gym harder.
Get Clear, Actionable Feedback
No more vague advice or guesswork. The TPI assessment gives you measurable data about your performance, posture, and physical capabilities.
Build A Smarter Practice Routine
Stop grinding away on the range without progress. With tailored drills and exercises, you’ll spend less time practising and more time improving.
Work With A Certified Expert Who Gets It
When your coach understands both the biomechanics of golf and *your* body’s mechanics, you get coaching that truly makes a difference.
If you live in the Poole or Dorset area, your full golf fitness assessment will be conducted at Broadstone Golf Club, BH18 8DQ.
Assessment sessions last for one hour and currently cost £60. During your session, you’ll undergo the full TPI Screening, experience a swing review, and receive a customised game-improvement plan—whether you’re out on the range or in the studio.
Thank you for your support in 2025.
